Please do not filter the internet. As many others have pointed out this is a very bad idea.
- It is a waste of money.
- It is very likely going to slow down the internet. This will affect everyone, not just those who would view 'illegal content'.
- Furthermore, people looking for such 'illegal content' can trivially bypass such a filter, or know someone who can do this for them.
- There is no visibility about what websites are on the blacklist, this should be open to public scrutiny so that the public can ensure that the government is not using the filter for its own political agenda.
Furthermore, this is not in the public's best interest. The members of the public who wish to view 'illegal content' don't want a filter, and will be able to bypass a filter. The rest of us don't need a filter because we don't wish to view such content and are capable of supervising the internet sessions of minors. None of us want the government to waste our taxes in this way.
Thank you,
